Seriously, I read that yesterday and had that stupid song in my head the rest of the day. Now, well....."Uh-Uh"
Yes, of course buttons can be loosened. When yo sew them on, you wind the threed around the shaft between the button and the garment which raises the button from the material making it seem looser.
